About
Inês Martins de Sousa began her music studies at the age of 8 in Escola de Música Nossa Senhora do Cabo, in the guitar class of the guitarist and composer Carlos Gutkin.
In 2014 she began her university studies doing a bachelor’s degree in music at the University of Évora in the class of Professor Dejan Ivanovic.
Between 2017 and 2020 she continued to study the instrument in private lessons with guitarist Júlio Guerreiro, while also doing a master’s degree in Music Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
Inês attended masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Anniello Desiderio, David Russell, Giampaolo Bandini, Joaquin Clerch, Leo Brouwer, Margarita Escarpa and Zoran Dukic, among others.
Her participation in competitions has included the following awards:

1st prize in the Concurso Jovenes Interpretes Musica Callada (Ávila, Spain 2018);

3rd prize in the Alhambra Jovenes Competition (Valencia, Spain 2018);

2nd prize ex-aequo at the Ciutat d'Elx Guitar Competition (Elche, Spain 2019);

2nd prize at the Florence International Guitar Competition (Florence, Italy 2021);

1st prize and prize for best interpretation of an Andalusian work at the
Comarca El Condado International Guitar Competition (Jaén, Spain 2021);

1st prize at the Cidade do Montijo Guitar Competition (Montijo, Portugal 2022);
-
2nd prize and public prize at the Ciutat d'Elx International Guitar Competition (Elche, Spain 2022);
-
1st prize in Stuttgart International Guitar competition (Stuttgart, Germany 2024).
She has been working as a guitar teacher since 2016, having taught at various specialized music schools in Lisbon (Portugal).
She is currently a guitar teacher at the Landesmusikschule Kremsmünster, Stadl-Paura and Gmunden and at Musikum Hallein (Austria).
Inês completed her master's and postgraduate degrees in Performance at the Universität Mozarteum in July 2024 in the class of Uni. Prof Laura Young.
